Information about this Web Site
This is the web site of CTC Cornwall, a Local Group of CTC.
The WebMaster
The Web master is a Grey Geek (that's me) who is slowed down by age and lots of other things to do. I can't understand how I ever found time to work. Producing this web site is a slow process - craftmanship can't be hurried.
I have been learning HTML, CSS, etc from scratch and am indebted to Jennifer Robbins for her help. In case my wife reads this, I should explain that I refer to her book : "Web Design in a Nutshell", by Jennifer Niederst Robbins, copyright 2006 O'Reilly Media inc, ISBN 0-596-00987-9. I design the site using the Quanta Plus Open Source web development software.
Compliance
I have taken a decision to make the site fully standards compliant (see below) and to keep the layout fairly simple and uncluttered. If anyone reading this thinks they can improve on my (non-existent) graphics and give the site an "identity", I would welcome his/her assistance.
Logo
We need some sort of logo to represent CTC Cornwall and create an identity. If you have an idea for this, please contact me.
Hosting
This site is hosted by
and we are pleased to recommend them.
Browser Problems
This web site is fully standards compliant. It complies with XHTML 1.0 (Strict) and CSS Level 2.1. You can check this by clicking on the W3C links in the footer of any page.
If you have a problem with the site not rendering properly (ie it does not "look right") in your browser, then the problem is most likely to be with your browser, particularly if you are using an older version. Internet Explorer V6 or earlier is particularly problematic.
I recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of your browser, or if you are still using Internet Explorer, that you install a standards compliant and secure browser, such as Firefox.
If you have read the above, and you still have problems, then please contact me and let me know your problem. Please tell me the browser and version you are using (go to "Help" then "about"), and the resolution of your display (eg 1024x768, 1280x1024).
